Bridport and George Town Police have arrested and charged a 42-year-old woman in connection with an alleged evade incident that occurred in Bridport overnight on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Tasmania Police allege the woman, who was disqualified from driving, evaded officers during an attempted traffic intercept. The incident reportedly took place around 7:30 pm. Following the alleged evade, police allege the woman fled into a licensed premises before entering a nearby residential property.
The woman was later located at a residential address, where she was arrested. She has since been charged with evading police in aggravated circumstances and driving whilst disqualified.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police seized a beige Volkswagen Amarok for a period of six months. The woman is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Tasmania Police have extended their gratitude to members of the public for their assistance during the incident. Authorities are appealing for further information from anyone who may have witnessed a beige Volkswagen Amarok being driven in the Bridport area around 7:30 pm on Tuesday. Police are also requesting any relevant CCTV footage that could assist with their inquiries.
